Six shortlisted for GFA Technical Director job

The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has shortlisted six candidates with the expertise to be screened further for the Technical Director role.

The position of Technical Director of the GFA has been vacant since the federation refused to extend the contract of Samuel Francis Oti Akenteng which expired at the end of March 2020.

According to the GFA, over 100 applications were received last month of which six qualified candidates have been shortlisted for interview.

The shortlist includes three expatriates and three Ghanaians of which one will win the nod to pick up the role. They are being interviewed by a GFA Select Committee through video conferencing due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

But the GFA failed to reveal the identities of these candidates.

The Select Committee will forward their report for approval by the Executive Council before any announcement.

Footy-Ghana.com understands the GFA is racing against time to complete the Technical Director appointment process and could confirm Oti Akenteng’s successor before the end of April 2020.

The selected Technical Director will have the task of the technical development and progress of the GFA with planning and execution of a long-term motive of improving standards and innovations both on and off the pitch.

The Technical Director will also see to the consistent education and implementation in all national teams the basic principles of Ghana’s football identity while ensuring smooth transitional development of junior national teams into the Black Stars and Black Queens.
