A dismal start by the Black Queens saw Ghana suffer a 3-0 defeat to Chile In their Turkish Women’s Cup 2020 opener Wednesday.
Playing second best from start, Ghana managed to hold the South Americans to a barren stalemate.
Chile, however, were handed impetus to start scoring in the 54th minute when goalkeeper Fafali Dumehasi brought down Javiera Toro for a penalty against Ghana.
Karen Araya stepped up and converted from the spot.
Three minutes later, La Roja Femenino made it 2-0. Goalkeeper had blocked a header from a teasing free-kick but Camila Saez Oyaneder was on hand to pounce and score from close range.
Daniela Pardo then completed the 3-0 by scoring from a goalmouth scramble in the 70th minute.
Ghana will play their next game in Group B against Northern Ireland on Saturday March 7. The Black Queens would then wrap up the group stage games against Kenya March 10.
