GFA revokes license of Turkish coach Kasim Gökyildiz, warns AshGold

The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has warned Premier League side AshantiGold to strictly comply with its directive to disengage with Turkish Kasim Gökyildiz as the club’s head coach.

Gökyildiz recently replaced Brazilian Ricardo Da Rocha whose certificate did not meet the bar set for coaches in the Ghanaian topflight this season.

The 54-year-old claimed to hold a UEFA License A with reference to previous coaching stints in Germany and Turkey.

But the GFA, in a letter to the Miners Monday, said it has revoked the provisional permit handed Gökyildiz to work after failing to validate the authenticity of the coaching certificates provided by the coach.

“You will recall that based on our previous correspondence with your club, we had raised issues concerning the authenticity of the UEFA A Coaching License of Mr Gökyildiz.

“The Ghana Football Association per its checks with the German Football Federation and the Turkish Football Federation is unable to validate the authenticity of Mr Gökyildiz’s license.

“In the foregoing, the provisional license issued to Mr Gökyildiz is hereby revoked.

“Consequently, the GFA would delete his name from the Competition Management System and you are by this letter requested to cease using Mr Kasim Gökyildiz as your head coach, failing which the necessary sanction(s) shall apply. The directive is with immediate effect.

“Accept for strict compliance,” read a GFA letter signed by General Secretary Prosper Harrison Addo and addressed to AshantiGold CEO Frederick Acheampong.
