2019/20 GPL: Olympics win 7-goal thriller away to King Faisal

Great Olympics registered their third victory this season, beating King Faisal 4-3 in a drama-filled Ghana Premier League match-day 8 encounter Wednesday.

A topsy-turvy afternoon at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium had both teams freely attack but the hosts ended up with 10 men

Olympics were a goal up at half-time courtesy an Emmanuel Clottey penalty on 26 minutes. The striker quickly registered his brace three minutes after the break.

But Kotoko loanee Osman Ibrahim, who surprisingly missed the starting lineup, came on in the second half and fired Faisal back on level terms with a 4-minute brace after the hour mark.

The hosts had gone a man down prior to the equalizer with Patrick Barnor being sent off for a second yellow card offense.

Olympics made their numerical advantage count by restoring the lead through Razak Yusif in the 74th minute.

Five minutes later, it was 3-3 courtesy Baba Yahaya.

Gladson Awako, however, ensured Great Olympics returned to Accra with their third win of the season by slotting home the winner in the 82nd minute.

This leaves King Faisal winless in 8 matches so far – drawn thrice and shipped in 19 goals while scoring 11.
