“Leave us to play our football” – Dreams coach in referees rant

Dreams FC head coach, Abdul Karim Zito risks a GFA misconduct charge for his comments about match officials which followed their 1-0 match-day 7 defeat to Hearts of Oak on Sunday.

Zito, like a number of Dreams FC officials, was raged by referee Eso Doh Morrison’s refusal to award the ‘Still Believe Boys’ a legitimate penalty late in the game.

Speaking after the match, the experienced trainer lamented the referee’s decision to ignore an infringement by Mohammed Alhassan on his striker Eric Gawu.

He went ahead to claim that Dreams FC were being hard done by decisions of overly cautious match officials due to the club’s association with new president of the Ghana Football Association, Kurt E.S Okraku.

Mr Okraku was Executive Chairman of the club until his election in October 2019.

Zito told reporters: “Eric Gawu went ahead with the ball and the player pushed him. I saw a penalty.

“We are being punched by certain things because the FA President [Kurt Okraku] was the director of the club. He is no more at the club. He came here as a spectator.”

“They [match officials] should leave us to play our football. I saw a penalty. This has been happening in many of our away games. The referees fear to give the decisions in our favour because they fear they will be accused of helping the FA President’s club. Please they should allow us to play our football. Kurt is no more with us.”

Kofi Kordzi scored the only goal of the game after some sumptuous buildup in the 55th minute with the defeat keeping Dreams FC at 8th position with 10 points from 7 matches.
