2019/20 GPL: Diawisie Taylor brace lifts Karela over Legon Cities

Karela United earned their second win of the 2019/20 season by overcoming Legon Cities 3-0 in the Ghana Premier League Friday.

Striker Charles Diawisie Taylor (29′) and Samuel Ofori (41′) gave Karela a first-half lead before the former finished off the match-day seven encounter at Akoon Community Park in Tarkwa with his brace 10 minutes from time.

Just before the half-hour mark, Diawisie Taylor saw his strike take a wicked deflection off the visitors’ defender before going past goalkeeper Fatau Dauda while Ofori also made it 2-0 with an effort from inside the box just four minutes from half-time.

The second half saw Legon Cities make efforts to come back into the game.

But an insurance goal arrived late on with Taylor tallying his second in the 80th to put the game away at 3-0.

He started off an attack but after being crowded left the ball for Iddrisu who found Nortey with a short pass and the latter delivered a pinpoint cross into the box for Taylor to arrive and finish coolly into the rooftop.

Diawisie Taylor was denied a hat-trick in the final minute of regulation time when his goal-bound effort was timely cleared by Nicholas Mensah.

Karela United had the Royals for the taking in the first match-day seven fixture and would be content with a dominating 3-0 win.  They are now on 8 points after seven matches.
