“The insults, hatred was too much” – coach Assibu explains Dwarfs resignation

Ebusua Dwarfs coach Robert Raymond Assibu has resigned from his post, claiming his life was in danger.

The ‘shock’ decision came hours after the Crabs suffered their fourth straight defeat in the 2019/20 Ghana Premier League on Wednesday.

Liberty Professionals stung Dwarfs with a stoppage-time goal to win 2-1 in the match-day four fixture at Cape Coast Stadium.

Following that, coach Robert Assibu decided to call it quits.

The Caf License A holder astonishingly disclosed that the Dwarfs environment is too poisoned for his continued stay as head coach.

“Looking at the behavior of the supporters towards me and the challenges at the club, I thought it was safe I resigned.

“People have personal hatred for me and I feel my life is at stake. They are attacking me physically and spiritually. I became very sick before the start of the season and the most worrying thing is that I have sacrificed everything for this team.

“However, the supporters are taking me down this very dangerous road because of their selfish interests. They want to destroy my life. If it had not been for God, I would have died after a recent 3-day bout of illness,” coach Assibu noted.

“I have firm principles and these fans do not like me because I rejected some players they recommended which was purely based on their performance. Some of them want us to lose just to justify their agenda against me.

“The insults, hatred was too much so it is better to leave the job for the supporters of Dwarfs,” he further stated.

Club sources indicate the management of Dwarfs has accepted the resignation and already launched a quick search for coach Robert Assibu’s successor.
