#FootyTransfers: Berekum Chelsea sign Kotoko’s Danlad Ibrahim

Asante Kotoko teenage goalkeeper, Danlad Ibrahim has joined Berekum Chelsea on a season-long loan after extending his contract with the Porcupine Warriors.

The Ghana U-17 World Cup starlet’s deal was due at the end of December but on Thursday renewed it to stay on the books of Kotoko by three more years – till 2023.

Danlad found himself down the pecking order in a very competitive department with three senior stoppers in Felix Annan, Emmanuel Osei Kwame and Kwame Baah.

And needing competitive action to aid his development in the upcoming season, the club decided to consider loan options for him.

“I agree with Management on their basis for wanting me to go on loan.

“I have been here for three years but lack the number of game minutes I desire. I feel, therefore, that it will be good for me to go and get some playing time,” 17-year-old Danlad told the Kotoko Express App.

Danlad Ibrahim, despite his struggles at club level, has enjoyed a steady rise in the national team due to his exceptional qualities. He has spent the past three years keeping the posts for the national U-17, U-20 and U-23 teams.
