Crestfallen Kotoko players handed 5-day break

Players of Asante Kotoko have been given a five-day break following their return home after Sunday’s 2019/20 Caf Confederation Cup elimination in Cote d’Ivoire.

The Porcupines were beaten 2-0 by FC San Pedro at Stade Felix Houphouet-Boigny in Abidjan to exit the competition 2-1 on aggregate.

Captain Felix Annan and his colleagues were distraught by the loss, and as a result, have been allowed time off to recover before resuming preparations for the new Ghana football season.

Assistant Coach, Johnson Smith, broke the news to the players after the team landed at the Kotoka International Airport in Accra on Monday.

The Porcupines started the Africa campaign in the Champions League losing 3-2 away to Kano Pillars of Nigeria in August in the knockout round first-leg. The tables turned that same month after a 2-0 win in the second leg.

The momentum could not be sustained when a 2-0 home win over Etoile du Sahel was overturned with a 3-0 second-leg and drop to the Confederation Cup in October.
