U-23 Afcon: Yaw Yeboah and 10 others to join Meteors squad

Skipper Yaw Yeboah leads 11 foreign-based players for Ghana’s squad to the 2019 Under-23 Africa Cup of Nations (Afcon) scheduled for Egypt from November 8.

The Celta Vigo B attacker, whose crucial goal in the final qualifier away to Algeria, has already joined the Black Meteors camp in Accra.

There are first time call-ups for Robin Polley (son of ex-international Prince Opoku Polley), Emmanuel Lomotey, Edward Sarpong, Issah Abass, Samuel Obeng and Evans Mensah – having not taken part in the qualifiers.

Simon Zibo and Kwabena Owusu make a return after missing the last doubleheader against Algeria with Kingsley Fobi and Joseph Paintsil completing the list of players who are expected to arrive in camp by close of day October 30.

The Black Meteors are placed in Group A alongside hosts Egypt, Cameroon and Mali.
