São Tomé and Príncipe have advanced to the group stage of the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers after winning the two legs of their preliminary round tie with Mauritius 5-2 on aggregate.
The less-fancied Central Africans shocked the Mauritians away in midweek, beating them 3-1 before registering another win – 2-1 – at home on Sunday.
The result sees São Tomé and Príncipe fill the void in Group C of the qualifiers to Cameroon 2021.
They join top seeds Ghana, South Africa and Sudan.
São Tomé and Príncipe will open their group stage qualifiers away to Sudan on November 11. They host Ghana’s Black Stars at Estádio Nacional 12 de Julho on November 19.
