Caf CL: Nour El-Din to lead Egyptian refs in Etoile-Kotoko 2nd leg

Egyptian referee Ibrahim Nour El-Din has been appointed to officiate Asante Kotoko’s Caf Champions League second leg clash away to Tunisia’s Etoile du Sahel.

The group stage ticket decider will come off at Stade Mustapha Ben Jannet in Monastir on Sunday, September 29 with kickoff at 17:00 GMT.

Nour El-Din will lead the refereeing team with compatriots Tahsin Abo El-Sadat Bedyer and Ahmed Hossam Taha as first and second assistant respectively while Mohamed Adel Elsaid Hussein plays the role of the fourth official.

Sudan’s Mamoun Bushara Nasir has also been named Match Commissioner.

– Previous games

Ibrahim El-Din, one of Egypt’s top referee, has never taken charge of a Kotoko game since receiving his Fifa badge in 2014.

The 40-year-old has, however, previously handled two games involving Ghanaian sides – when the Black Satellites defeated South Africa at the group stage of the 2015 Under-20 Afcon and also Medeama SC’s 1-1 draw away at Young Africans in the group stage of the 2016 Caf Confederation Cup.

Asante Kotoko are eyeing a first-time appearance at the group stage of the Champions League since last doing so in 2006. And to realize this dream, the two-time winners must cough out a favourable result in Monastir after taking a 2-0 first-leg lead.
