Ghana striker Jordan Ayew made it two goals in as many Premier League games as he handed Crystal Palace a 1-0 victory over former club Aston Villa on Saturday.
Just like against Manchester United, Ayew fed on a pass from countryman Jeffrey Schlupp.
The Eagles were dominating the game at Selhurst Park with the Ghana duo among the top performers of the side but struggled to find an opening against the visitors who had seen Egypt’s Mahmood Trezeguet dismissed.
Palace squandered chance after chance before Jordan Ayew finally broke the deadlock on 73 minutes against the side he previously featured for in the English Championship a couple of seasons ago.

Perhaps Ayew had taken a quick glance over to the Palace bench, where Christian Benteke was primed and ready to replace him, and drew the extra bit of determination he needed.
Manager Roy Hodgson had clearly decided that Ayew had been given his fair chance but it was at that very moment he chased down a ball by Jeffrey Schlupp on the left side of Villa’s box.
He got a fortunate ricochet off Grealish and outmuscled England’s latest call-up Tyrone Mings before curling what proved to be the winner past Tom Heaton.
“He [Jordan Ayew] was tired, the amount of work he puts in, the high speed running he does, and we were thinking at 0-0 we might need to replace him,” said Hodgson after the match.
Jordan Ayew’s goal secured Crystal Palace their first home win of the season. The match winner is also his first League goal at Selhurst Park.
