Afcon 2021Q: South Africa secure Zambia friendly ahead of Ghana clash

Ghana’s 2021 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying opponents South Africa have booked a friendly date away to Zambia during the September international break.

The match, scheduled for Saturday, September 7 in Lusaka, will be the first since Bafana Bafana were ousted in the quarterfinals of Afcon 2019 by Nigeria.

South Africa will be using the game also as first test in their preparations to battle Ghana later in November.

The two countries face off in the opening round of the Afcon 2021 qualifiers in Group C which also comprises of Sudan and the winner of the preliminary round encounter between Mauritius and Sao Tome e Principe set to be determined in October. The Black Stars will play hosts.

The South Africa-Zambia for coach Molefi Ntseki who has taken interim charge of the Bafana Bafana following the resignation of Stuart Baxter.

Ghana, for now, have shown no signs they would be busy during the Fifa match dates in September.
