Caf CL: Okrah talks up Kotoko’s teamwork ahead of Pillars clash

Asante Kotoko midfielder, Augustine Okrah says teamwork will inspire the side to positive results in their 2019/20 Caf Champions League preliminary round first-leg trip to Nigeria’s Kano Pillars.

The Porcupine Warriors qualified for this year’s campaign after winning the Tier – One of the Ghana FA Normalization Special Cup competition. ‘Masu Gida’, on the other hand, secured a slot after placing second in the 2019 Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL).

Okrah, who re-joined the Reds as a free agent last week, says he is enthused about the teamwork in camp ahead of the crucial tie next month.

“Teamwork is what matters. With that, we’re not going to allow them a chance. I believe we can get a point if we continue with that mentality,” he told Kumasi-based Oyerepa FM.

“Every player is working hard and you could see that at training. I believe with the hard training and determination, we’ll do well in Nigeria.

“We’re determined despite the game being played away. We’ll work hard and ensure that we take our chances,” Okrah added.

The former Ghana Premier League top-scorer is hoping to make a remarkable impact, having excelled at Sudanese giants Al Merikhech and Al Khartoum on the continent.

The first leg, scheduled for Nigeria on August 10 will be played at the Sanni Abacha Stadium. The winner on aggregate will battle either Hafia FC or Etoile du Sahel.
