Ashimeru signs Red Bull contract extension until 2024

Ghana midfielder Majeed Ashimeru has followed compatriot Gideon Mensah in extending his contract with Austrian giants Red Bull Salzburg.

The 21-year-old was signed from Ghanaian top tier side WAFA SC in the summer of 2017 and has since then been on three loan spells – at Austria Lustenau (autumn 2017), RZ Pellets WAC (spring 2018) and FC St. Gallen (2018/19).

Following his successful loan in Switzerland, the attacker, upon return to the club for pre-season, has been rewarded a new deal ahead of time, keeping him around for the next five years ending May 31, 2024.

Comments:

Red Bull Salzburg Sporting director Christoph Freund on the long-term extension:

Majeed took an impressive step in his development in the past two years and has put in consistently good performances when out on loan. We are convinced that he will play a crucial role for us at the club in the future, and we are pleased to have been able to arrange a long-term contract with him.

Majeed Ashimeru says:

I am very happy to be in Salzburg now, and I am looking forward to the season ahead. I want to help contribute to us playing good and successful football. I have to thank the club for the great faith they have placed in me, and I will do everything I can to pay this back.
