#FootyTransfers: Gyasi lands MLS loan move to FC Dallas

Ghana’s Edwin Gyasi has joined FC Dallas on loan until the end of the 2019 MLS season.

The winger has been acquired from Bulgarian giants CSKA Sofia.

Gyasi, who makes the move on his 28th birthday, should be able to feature for FC Dallas after the MLS summer transfer window opens on July 9.

CSKA Sofia initially advertised last week that negotiations were underway for Edwin Gyasi to join an unnamed MLS team on loan.

On Monday, the 31-times Bulgarian champions officially confirmed that Gyasi will be joining FC Dallas on loan, until the end of the year, with an option to buy.

“We thank him for professionalism and we wish him health and success in Dallas!,” the Bulgarian side said in a statement on Monday.

Edwin Gyasi joined CSKA Sofia from Norway’s Aalesund in 2018, scoring six goals and 10 assists in 40 league matches. He played for De Graafschap, FC Twente, Roda JC, and Aalesund as well as other clubs in his career prior to joining the Bulgarians.

Born to Ghanaian parents, Gyasi has earned five appearances for Ghana’s national team. He made his senior debut for the Black Stars on Sept. 5, 2017, and scored his first international goal in a World Cup Qualifier against Egypt on Nov. 12, 2017.
