Afcon 2019: Caf shuns Ghanaian referee Daniel Laryea
The 32-year-old Zebra was the country's only hope since the Gabon 2017 no-show.
For the second successive Africa Cup of Nations (Afcon) finals, there would be no Ghanaian referee involved.
The Confederation of African Football (Caf) Thursday announced the final list of match officials selected for the 32nd Afcon tournament, Egypt 2019, slated to take place from June 21 to July 19.
On the back of impressive continental outings in recent years, young centre referee Daniel Nii Ayi Laryea had looked primed for his debut outing at Africaโs flagship football tournament especially after he was initially named in a pre-list back in April.
But Laryea is not picked in the list of 26 centre referees confirmed for Afcon 2019. Thirty (30) assistant referees have also been named for the tournament which takes a 24-team format for the first time in its history.
