Berekum Chelsea threaten to pull out of #NCSpecial

Berekum Chelsea president, Nana Kwame Nketiah has expressed discontent over reports circulating that his club’s venue Golden City Park will be banned from the Normalization Special Cup.

The Blues’ fixture against Asante Kotoko produced several off-the-pitch incidents resulting in serious injuries to the Porcupine Warriors’ policy analyst Dr. Amo Sarpong, Operations Manager Isaac Donkor and a supporter known as “Okocha” even before kickoff.

Amo Sarpong purportedly pulled a gun and fired warning shots but was later overpowered by the irate home fans in response to his action.

Speaking on the terrifying incident Monday, the Berekum Chelsea chief threatened to quit the Special Cup if their home ground was closed down.

“I have heard the Normalization Committee will ban our venue because of this impasse. I swear on my mother’s grave that I will quit this competition and wait for the league if that happens.

“Every team has to obey rules when they travel.

“We’ve all got guns but why bring a gun to the stadium? Amo Sarpong goofed and we shouldn’t be banned for such action,” Nketiah told Kessben FM.

He insisted that Kotoko officials were the cause of the scuffle.

“We have never had issues with Kotoko. There are questions we need to ask honestly. Why did someone sprinkle concoctions on the pitch? Why did Amo Sarpong pull a gun?

“Whatever happened at the entrance was awful and it’s because of their actions.”

The encounter ended goalless as Kotoko maintained their top spot in Tier A while Chelsea languish at the bottom of the log.
