Title contenders AshantiGold got off to a winning start in the Normalization Committee Special Competition against Techiman XI Wonders on Sunday.
The Miners won their opening game in Zone A 2-0 thanks to first half strikes from Shafiu Mumuni and Ivorian Salia Ouattara at Len Clay Stadium.
Striker Mumuni struck home from the spot in the 11th minute after Amos Nkrumah was brought down in the XI Wonders penalty area after outpacing his marker.

Eight minutes later, Quattara doubled the lead with a low grounder.

The encounter failed to produce more goals but coach Svetislav Tanasijevic will be content with his charges as they travel to face Bechem United next at Baba Yara Sports Stadium on Wednesday, April 3.
The winner of the Special Competition for Premier Clubs will represent Ghana in the 2019/20 Caf Champions League scheduled for August start.
