Friendly: Manaf bags brace as Hearts see off Liberty

Accra Hearts of Oak continued their impressive performance in friendly games with a hard-fought 3-2 win over Liberty Professionals Wednesday afternoon.

A brace from youngster Manaf Urmar and a strike by Kwadwojo Obeng Jnr. ensured the Phobians defeated the Scientific Soccer Lads at the Pobiman Park. Elvis Kyei Baffour and Richard Adornu grabbed Liberty’s goals on the day.

Hearts dominated the first half, scoring all three goals, with some delightful displays.

Manaf, who has been fantastic since signing for the Rainbow Boys, opened the scoring in the 21st minute.

Fatawu, through a beautiful build up, linked up excellently with Kordzi, who run quickly to pick a through pass and, crossed nicely. Goalkeeper Kofi Baah failed to make a first time save and, Manaf unleashed a thunderbolt to register his side’s first goal.

On 26 minutes, Manaf netted his second on the afternoon. Right-back Christopher Bonney sent in a great corner kick but goalkeeper Kofi Baah flicked the ball away but Manaf controlled from the rebound and slotted home a stunner for Hearts’ second goal.

And Obeng made it 3-0 for Hearts before Elvis Kyei Baffour pulled one back to end the first half.

Two minutes into the second half, Richard Adornu scored to reduce Liberty’s deficit but was not enough to change the scores.

Hearts will continue their preparatory games on Sunday with a tie against another Premier League side – Dreams FC at the Accra Sports Stadium.
