ZESCO United trainer, George Lwandamina says his side was unlucky during their 2-1 defeat to Asante Kotoko on Wednesday.
It was a first defeat for the Ndola-based outfit in the group stage of the 2018/19 Caf Confederation Cup at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium.
Kwame Bonsu and Emmanuel Gyamfi netted for the Reds whilst, Rahim Osmanu, who is a Ghanaian got the consolation for the Zambians.
Speaking after the game, Lwandamina insisted that the Porcupine Warriors won the game out of sheer luck.
A highly confident Lwandamina, prior to the game, brushed aside Kotoko’s threat saying they were a spent force.
Following his side’s defeat, ‘Chicken’ as he is nicknamed, was reminded of his pre-game comments.
And he sharply quipped: “Is this the Kotoko you knew some years back?”
“We created a lot of chances. If we had buried our chances, we would have won the game. We were just unlucky.”
”We all have 3 points. We are looking forward to win our next game. If the competition should end today. ZESCO would qualify.” he added.
Kotoko’s win throws Group C open, with all the teams on three points. They next travel to face Nkana FC in Zambia on February 24.
