Satellites lose 2-0 to Niger in U-20 Afcon warm-up

Ghana’s Black Satellites suffered a 2-0 defeat to Niger Under-20s in a pre-Africa Cup of Nations warm-up game Wednesday afternoon.

The two sides were locked barren in the first half of the game held Niamey.

But coach Jimmy Corbblah’s boys were undone by two second half penalties which were both converted by their hosts.

Prior to conceding the first goal, FC Nordsjaelland forward found the back of the net for Ghana but his strike was chalked off for an offside. The centre referee had given the goal but changed his mind after consulting his assistant.

The Black Satellites, who are placed in Group B of the 2019 U-20 Afcon alongside Burkina Faso, Senegal and Mali, pitched camp in the Nigerien capital on Monday for acclimatization purposes.

The Championship, which also serves as a qualifier to the Fifa World Cup, is scheduled for February 2-17.
