#FootyTransfers: AshGold’s Akaminko welcomes Kotoko interest

AshantiGold midfielder James Akaminko has expressed readiness to switch to regional rivals Asante Kotoko once a transfer deal is struck between both clubs.

The nimble-footed enforcer has been confirmed as one of three targets of the Porcupine Warriors who are seeking to bolster their squad ahead of the 2018/19 Caf Confederation Cup group stage games.

Akaminko together with teammates Richard Djodi and Shafiu Mumuni are being sought after by Kotoko, officials of the Miners confirmed Tuesday.

And the former Tema Youth player has welcomed the development but stresses all lies in the hands of his employers.

“If management of AshantiGold agrees to allow me join Kotoko, I will grab the opportunity,” the 23-year-old told Oyerepa FM. “It doesn’t lie in my mouth to decide whether to leave or not but won’t hesitate to play for Kotoko if given the green light.”

“I believe I can contribute my quota for Kotoko to qualify to the next stage in their Africa campaign.

“They [AshantiGold] have the final say, if the two clubs are able to agree on a deal, I will gladly join Kotoko,” Akaminko reiterated.

Asante Kotoko will face Zambia duo ZESCO united and Nkana FC as well as Sudanese giants Al Hilal in Group C of the 2018/19 Caf Confederation Cup. They begin with a trip to Sudan on February 3.
