Kwasi Appiah: Black Stars coach to get contract extension

Black Stars head coach Kwasi Appiah is set to extend his contract ahead of the Africa Cup of Nations 2019.

Spokesperson of the Normalization Committee, Dan Kwaku Yeboah revealed that talks have began on extending the contract of the gaffer, whose current deal expires in April.

“There has been the need to renew coach Kwasi Appiah’s contract. He was given a two-year contract with the arrangement that the Afcon will be played in January 2019,” Yeboah told Citi FM.

“Now it has been shifted to June so if we don’t renew his contract it will mean that by June contractually he will not be an employee of the Ghana Football Association so there is the need to renew.

“There have been preliminary meetings between Coach Kwasi Appiah, Dr. Kofi Amoah and Sports Minister Isaac Asiamah. The details are yet to be made public because it has not been finalized yet.”

The Afcon will be hosted in Egypt from June 15 to July 2013. Ghana will be vying for their fifth continental gong that has eluded the West African nation since 1982.
