U-23 AfconQ: Spanish-based Yaw Yeboah joins Meteors camp

Attacking midfielder Yaw Yeboah has arrived at the Black Meteors camp just a day to their 2019 Under-23 Africa Cup of Nations home qualifier with Togo.

Head coach Ibrahim Tanko Sunday indicated he was expecting the CD Numancia player in camp on Sunday with former Asante Kotoko striker Dauda Mohammed scheduled to arrive from RSC Anderlecht the following day.

However, Yeboah – the former Manchester City player and one of the bright spots for Ghana at the 2015 U-20 World Cup – was able to report at the Meteors’ Kumasi base Monday afternoon.

The 21-year-old’s arrival shores up the foreign-based contingent in camp to eight after Gideon Mensah, Isaac Twum, Joel Fameyeh, Frank Arhin, Osman Bukari, Kwabena Owusu and Evans Mensah.

Dauda Mohammed, who will be the ninth, is expected to join his teammates from his Belgium base by close of day to close the squad size for Coach Ibrahim Tanko at 22.

The Black Meteors will wrap up preparations for their first leg encounter against Togo with their final training session at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium at 16:30 GMT.

The Ghana-Togo U-23s qualifier is scheduled for 15:30 GMT kickoff on Tuesday.
