5pm kickoff for Queens-Banyana test match

Ghana’s final preparatory game towards the 2018 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations against South Africa has been confirmed for 1700 GMT (1900 CAT) kickoff.

The match is slated for the refurbished Accra Sports Stadium –venue for the opening and closing ceremonies of the 11th Women’s Afcon – on Sunday, November 11.

Banyana Banyana arrived in Ghana late Friday at the cost of the Ghana Football Association who invited them for the match.

The Black Queens also returned home from their training tour of Zambia and Kenya hours before the arrival of their South African counterparts.

Coach Bashir Hayford said: “We travelled out with the sole aim of preparing the team and we managed to play two test games in between – one which we lost (3-2 vs Zambia) and the other ended in a draw (1-1 vs Kenya). I was not interested in the results but how I will build my team and made sure I saw everybody play…”

“We’ve progressed to a stage where we have just few days to the start of the tournament. We play South Africa this Sunday and I want all Ghanaians to come and watch the game; come and encourage the team we are preparing for them for the host and win agenda.”

“For us the technical team, from the trip, we have now seen our standard and believe we are on cause. Our third preparatory should show much progress. The rest of the preparations will be about shaping and shaping the team…”

“We need the support of Ghanaians to achieve our host and win target,” he implored.
