Ampah, Okyere set to join Ghana camp

Ghana’s UEFA Women’s Champions League duo, Faustina Ampah and Priscilla Okyere are expected to join the national team camp for the upcoming 2018 Total Women’s Africa Cup of Nations latest by November 5.

The enterprising duo who were Ghana’s only representatives in the 2018-19 UEFA Women’s Champions League for their respective clubs will be the latest addition to coach Bashir Hayford’s squad.

The European calendar has held the duo from joining the Black Queens camp, but the last two weeks before the kickoff of the tournament forces all clubs to release players for the tournament mandated by FIFA’s regulations.

Faustina Ampah has featured prominently at the heart of the defense for Belarus side FC Minsk, adding to her rich cabinet the 2018 Belarus Women’s League and yet another ticket to UEFA’s coveted tournament.

Priscilla Okyere helped her Serbian side, Spartak Subotica to the round of 16 of the 2018-19 UEFA Women’s Champions League(scored two goals) only to be ousted by German giants Bayern Munich.

Both Ampah and Okyere played in all games for the Black Queens in the 2018 WAFU Cup triumph beating African giants Nigeria in the process.

The two are key members of the Black Queens set up and Coach Bashir Hayford will be looking forward to their arrival.

Ghana has been drawn against Mali, Algeria and Cameroon in the November 17 to December 1 tournament which also serves as the qualifiers for the 2019 FIFA Women’s World Cup.
