Again, Asamoah Gyan vows to play for Kotoko

Ghana captain Asamoah Gyan has reaffirmed his wish to feature for local giants Asante Kotoko before retiring from football.

The 32-year-old Kayserispor striker Thursday morning witnessed the launch of a partnership between one of his companies, Paradise Pac Mineral Water and Kotoko at a ceremony in Kumasi.

Speaking at the event, Gyan who has previously declared his intention to don the Porcupine jersey due to his undying love for Kotoko since childhood noted:

“It is a great honour to be part of this family. Let me say this; before I draw the curtains down on my career, I will wear the red jersey.”

It is the third time in over two years that Gyan has publicly made such declaration.

Asamoah Gyan featured for Stay Cool Professionals and Liberty Professionals in the Ghana Premier League for three seasons before moving to Europe to join Italian side Udinese Calcio in 2003. He later moved to Modena, Stade Rennes, Sunderland, Al Ain, Shanghai SIPG and now in Turkey with Kayserispor.

His elder brother Baffour also played for Kotoko between 2010 and 2011.

The mineral water company owned by Gyan has entered into a two-year partnership agreement with Kotoko.

The deal will see the club receive GH¢10,000 in cash and GH¢3,000 worth of products every month

Gyan hopes to market his water business through the massive following possessed by Asante Kotoko.
