Zero regret leaving Germany for Ghana, says KP Boateng

Despite playing just 15 games for the Black Stars, Kevin-Prince Boateng feels no sense of regret choosing Ghana over Germany for his international career, the Sassuolo attacker has said.

Boateng represented the Europeans at the youth levels before declaring allegiance to the country of his father at the senior stage back in 2010.

“[I have] zero regret that I left the German national team,” he told La Gazzetta Dello Sport.

“I had no room there because I say what I think. They did not want someone like me.

“I wanted to play for my country to represent what I am and that’s why I chose Ghana.

“I am happy because it enabled me to discover my origins.”

The Berlin-born – whose younger brother Jerome, the Bayern Munich defender, plays for Germany – starred for the Black Stars at the 2010 Fifa World Cup in South Africa.

Kevin-Prince Boateng has however been ostracized from the Ghana national team since the Brazil World Cup in 2014 due to disciplinary issues. The 31-year-old fell out with current coach Kwasi Appiah after a training ground bust-up.
