2019 AfconQ: Frank Acheampong out for Ghana

Frank Acheampong has left the Ghana camp just the night before their Nations Cup qualifier against Kenya in Nairobi.

The Black Stars winger’s departure has been necessitated by “an acute eye problem” team officials explained.

Acheampong arrived at the team’s Addis Ababa camp last Tuesday and had been receiving treatment from the medical team. However, with his condition not getting any better, he has been excused to seek an emergency treatment in Europe.

“I am aware he has an eye problem that was being managed but his condition did not improve and he had to fly to Europe to see his eye specialist,” said Ghana’s team doctor Chris Adomako.

Frank Acheampong – who has been a good patch of form for Tianjin TEDA in the Chinese Super League – was tipped to start the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations qualification tie between Kenya and Ghana at Kasarani Stadium on Saturday.
