Waris joins FC Nantes for 2018/19 season

French Ligue 1 side FC Nantes are expected to announce the signing of Abdul Majeed Waris on a season-long deal.

The Ghana international has agreed to seek guaranteed match time elsewhere only a few months after activating a permanent clause in his January 2018 loan contract with Portuguese champions FC Porto.

Waris, 26, had his medical last week and is just an announcement away for his return to French football having previously featured for Valenciennes and Lorient.

Taking stock of his side’s summer transfer dealings, Nantes president Waldemar Kita let slip a confirmation of the imminent arrival of Waris and two other signings.

“These five deals [Majeed Waris (FC Porto), Gabriel Boschilia (Monaco) and Matt Miazga (Chelsea), in addition to the already announced Fabio and Lucas Evangelista] are in. Now, let’s see if we will add one or two players to the team,” Kita is quoted in the French media.

FC Nantes have secured the option to buy Majeed Waris out of his four-year contract with FC Porto at the end of the loan deal.
