U-20 WWC: Visa issues force Ghana to abort Spain camping plans

Ghana have abandoned plans to pitch camp in Spain shortly before next month’s Fifa Under-20 Women’s World Cup.

The Black Princesses were hoping to leave Accra on Wednesday to hold the final leg of their pre-tournament preparations but the trip has been called off once more due to visa issues.

With time no longer on Ghana’s side, the Fifa/Caf Liaison team responsible for country’s participation in international competitions, now say plans are far advanced for the Under-20 contingent to fly out of Accra to France instead on Monday, July 30.

“Everything is on course in camp and Monday they will be leaving for France. Our first match is on August 5 so the important thing now is that the team heads to France.

“If we’re able to get leave on Monday, the team will have plenty of time to rest, get used to the weather and probably secure a friendly before the tournament starts,” Dr. Kofi Amoah stated after a visit to the Black Princesses camp on Tuesday.

Ghana is scheduled to face France at Stade de la Rabine in Vannes on August 5 before coming up against the Netherlands and New Zealand on August 8 and 12 respectively to complete their schedule in Group A of the 2018 Fifa U-20 Women’s World Cup.
