Finally! Ghana to begin U-20 Women’s WCup preps Monday

After several weeks of delay, Ghana U-20 women’s team, the Black Princesses, are set to begin camping on Monday, May 21.

Having secured qualification to the 2018 Fifa U-20 Women’s World Cup in January, the squad was supposed to start preparations earlier this month.

But head coach Yusif Basigi recently explained that the team had not assembled for preparations because of food shortage at their Prampram camp base.

Following an intervention by the Sports Ministry this week, the Black Princesses can now get their preparations underway.

The 37 players called up by Basigi will begin camping for the upcoming World Cup in France.

“The good news is that we have been cleared to begin camping, so we will start on Monday.

“Its a big relief to me, the technical staff and the players as well.

“We are hoping to use the little time judiciously to come out with something fruitful at the end,” coach Basigi told Citi FM.

Housed in Group A of the 2018 Fifa U-20 Women’s World Cup, Ghana will kick off their campaign against hosts France on August 5 before facing the Netherlands and New Zealand on August 8 and 12 respectively.
