Clubs get $35k as first tranche of ZylofonCash sponsorship money

All 16 clubs in the Ghana Premier League have received $35,000 as first tranche of payment in the newly-signed title sponsorship deal with ZylofonCash.

ZylofonCash, Footy-Ghana.com understands, advanced half of their reported $2million annual cash injection to the top-flight after the signing of their contract with the Ghana Football Association on Thursday.

Per the disbursement agreement between the GFA and clubs, each side was allotted an $81,000 gross but further deliberations led to the settlement for some deductions which will be used to defray administrative costs including payments to match officials in both the Premier and Division One Leagues as well as the acquisition of their uniforms.

As a result, $11,000 was settled on as contribution per club – hence a total $176,000 kept for the administrative and other costs.

Each Premier League will thus take home $70,000 as annual sponsorship allotment and have already confirmed taking cheques representing half the amount as first instalment of the ZylofonCash sponsorship for the ongoing 2017/18 season.

Before signing the deal, Premier League clubs also settled on a 7.5% payment to the facilitator of the mega-dollar deal from ZylofonCash – he/she thus receives about $150,000 from the principal amount per year.

The winner of the league will also earn $40,000 from the annual sponsorship money – a $10,000 dollar rise from what the champion previously earned.

The Ghanaian top-flight is now christened ZylofonCash Premier League for the next five years.
