Kwadwo Asamoah reiterates desire for Ghana return

Versatile Juventus star Kwadwo Asamoah has once again made it clear that he will make a return to the Ghana senior national team, the Black Stars fold “very soon.”

The playmaker, who has been developed into a wing-back at club side in recent years, is making similar statements he uttered back home in Accra during the summer break last year.

Kwadwo Asamoah, 29, has been out of the national set-up since 2014 largely due to injury troubles.

Despite being fit, he surprisingly turned down former coach Avram Gran’s call-up to Ghana’s squad for the 2017 Afcon – in order to concentrate on his club career.

There have been several calls from retired national stars including returnee national coach Kwasi Appiah to the decorated Juventus star to rescind his decision but has yet to make himself available.

But speaking to Peace FM after winning the double with the Bianconerri this 2017/18 season, Asamoah says his return to international duty is imminent.

“I have been communicating with Coach Kwasi Appiah of late and have informed him of my return soon.

“I wasn’t fit for some time but thank God this season has been injury-free for me so very soon, I will be donning the national colors soon,” Kwadwo Asamoah told the Accra-based radio station.

In what looks to be his final season as a Juve player, Kwadwo Asamoah has featured 27 times in all competitions. He becomes a free agent at the end of this month with reports linking him to one of the Milan clubs.
