AshantiGold 1-0 Eleven Wonders: Miners maintain perfect home record

AshantiGold continued their superb form at home with a 1-0 victory in their Ghana Premier League matchday 11 clash against Eleven Wonders on Wednesday.

Latif Anabila’s second half strike secured the triumph at the Len Clay Stadium for the Miners who needed to bounce back to winning ways after losing 1-0 to Medeama last Saturday.

Coach C. K Akunnor’s men fought enough for the first goal, creating decent chances right from the start of the clash but the Wonders defence, led by Kwadwo Adu were absolutely resilient.

The display of the Techiman-based side meant they were desperate to pick a point from the league leaders. They looked satisfied with the draw at half-time.

The second half commenced with Ashantigold continuing where they left off; midfield pair, James Akaminko and Joseph Gordon, controlled affairs in the Wonders half, thereby allowing their attackers to mantain intense pressure on their opponents backline but their attack was ineffective.

It was 0-0 until the 75th minute that their probe finally materialized. Substitute Latif Anabila grabbed the first goal with a stupendous strike and the Len Clay erupted. 1-0, five wins in 5 matches at home and that meant their title ambitions were still on course.

AshantiGold retain top spot on the league log with 20 points while Eleven Wonders lie 12th, just two spots away from relegation.
