Proud Utd temporarily banned from Swedru Park

The Ghana Football Association’s Executive Committee has initiated a temporary ban on Proud United FC’s use of the Swedru Park as its home venue with immediate effect.

This decision has become necessary due to the unfortunate incident that occurred during a Division One League matchday five fixture between Proud United FC and New Edubiase United FC on Monday, April 16.

Class One referee Anthony Mensah and his assistants Stephen Alhassan and Philip Quansah were forced to end the game abruptly in the 78th minute following attacks by angry home fans.

The decision is in accordance with Article 15(2) of the GFA General Regulations which states inter alia “the GFA may order the closure of any league centre where the safety of clubs, Match Officials or Spectators cannot be guaranteed.”’

The Division One League Board and the FA Cup Committee are therefore advised to determine the venue for the Club’s subsequent home matches in accordance with the provision of Article 15(3) of the General Regulations.

This order is however is without prejudice to the determination of the case pending before the Disciplinary Committee who have been charged to hear the case in accordance with the GFA Regulations.
