The Elmina Sharks-Medeama matchday 8 fixture in the 2017/18 Ghana Premier League, on Wednesday, had to be called off after the referee was allegedly attacked at halftime.
The game had ended 0-0 after 45 minutes at the Nduom Stadium.
But centre referee Yakubu Nuhu Liman could not return for the second half. According to reports, he had to be rushed to the hospital after sustaining an injury to his head.
Footy-Ghana.com is unable to independently confirm the circumstances surrounding referee Liman’s injury but there are allegations of an attack on the match official.
After over an hour, fourth referee Daniel Dorgbetor had to call off the game after both sides failed to reach a compromise for the game to continue.
