Hearts to face Karela without under-fire coach Wellington

Hearts of Oak will make their Ghana Premier League matchday 8 trip to Karela United in midweek without under-fire head coach Henry Lamptey Wellington, Footy-Ghana.com understands.

According to club sources, the coach is nursing an injury to his leg which makes him a huge doubt to join the team’s bus to Nzema Aiyinase for Wednesday’s game.

Wellington has been in charge of the Phobian technical team since the sack of Frank Nuttall during the off-season.

The trainer has superintended inconsistent results with his team so far in seven games, courting pressure from the club’s ever vociferous fans.

Hearts suffered a shock defeat to Elmina Sharks – their second at home, the Cape Coast Stadium last Saturday.

After seven games, the Phobians find themselves at 6th position with 10 points from three wins, three defeats and a draw.

And commentaries since that game have been on the need for management to reconsider the club’s technical set-up.

Assistant coach Edward Nii Odoom is expect to lead Hearts to Nzema Aiyinase should Wellington be effectively ruled out of the trip. The club may release an official statement soon, we understand.

Karela have been on the rise in their last three games having picked up seven points from games against Dreams FC, Berekum Chelsea and Wa All Stars. They are one point above Hearts after seven matches.
