Karela United shock Wa All Stars with away win

Wa All Stars were left in astonishment after Ghana Premier League debutants Karela United snatched a 1-0 victory at their dreaded Malik Jabir Park on matchday seven.

The 2015/16 league winners have been struggling in this season’s competition but losing at home to a newly promoted side in Karela United felt like a bitter, shocking and devastating pill for their team to absorb.

With the intensity of the encounter taking a goalless game shape, Karela gaffer Johnson Smith made two changes – Ibrahim Imoro for Patrick Yeboah and Sadiq Alhassan also replaced Franklyn Osei. A tactical change and then disaster struck!

On the 89th minute, Imoro Ibrahim netted after some great play from the Nzema based side; a good time to get a good win! Wa All Stars, despite the little time left, searched for an equalizer but Karela had their minds set on recording their first win in Wa.

Imoro claimed the NASCO Man of the Match award as well.

Struggling All Stars, noted for bagging points at home, have been utterly sluggish in this season’s title chase. They have only claimed a single win after seven games and are lying 16th on the league log.  Karela are now placed 4th and for a newly promoted team, it’s a great achievement.
