WATCH: How Elmina Sharks beat Hearts

Hearts of Oak slumped to a shock 2-1 defeat at home to Elmina Sharks in the Ghana Premier League on Saturday.

After claiming a resounding 4-1 victory against Wa All Stars on Wednesday, the Phobians could not maintain their momentum as they were struck with two goals from Felix Addo and skipper Obeng Crentsil even before the break.

Addo connected to Obeng Crentsil’s corner with a brilliant header that granted Sharks a deserved lead. The Elmina based  side kept knocking for another goal with their spectacular display and captain Obeng Crentsil’s long range effort on the 41st minute was enough for Yaw Acheampong’s side to hold onto their lead. An assist and a goal for the leader!

Halftime arrived and the gobsmacked Hearts fans were left with no promising performance to expect a come back heading into the second half of the encounter. Coach Wellington made some quick changes during recess, bringing on Malik Akowuah in place of Fatau Mohammed and Winful Cobbinah for Selassie Bakai.

The Phobians controlled the game and scored through Malik Akowuah to reduce the deficit. A 25-yard strike on the 60th minute but that was too late as Sharks held onto their 1 goal advantage.

Hearts have now lost to Ashgold, Berekum Chelsea and Elmina Sharks.
