Liberty Professionals remained in a deadlock with league leaders AshantiGold until the Scientific Soccer lads stole victory in the 90th minute at Carl Reindorf Park on Wednesday.
A second straight victory for coach Reginald Asante Boateng’s men came against the Miners who had gone five games without a defeat in the ongoing 2017/18 Ghana Premier League campaign.
Liberty threatened most in the opening half through Benjamin Eshun but the attacker’s efforts were not threatening enough for the experienced AshGold net-minder George Owu.
After a listless first half, AshGold began to control play after kicking off the second. As their desperation for a goal mounted, the Miners began committing fouls as Liberty caught them on the break.
In one of such breaks late in the game, saw Elvis Kyei Baffour finally break open the scoreless matchday six encounter and lifted Liberty to a 1-0 victory.
The goal developed after Liberty broke away on a counter from a badly taken free-kick in the final minute by AshGold.
Liberty scored from a well-worked team goal involving 8 touches. Kyei-Baffour, after swinging the swift move to the right side, popped up at the end of the final pass from Tamimu Muntari to finish off with the only goal of the encounter.

AshGold threw in more men forward including goalkeeper Owu during the three minutes of time added on but could not salvage a point from Dansoman.
AshantiGold remain on top of the log despite their first defeat with 13 points while Liberty climb to 11th position on 7 points with a game in hand.
