Johnson Smith does not fear Karela sack

Karela United coach Johnson Smith says he does not fear for his job despite his side’s poor start to their Ghana Premier League debut.

Karela made some big name signings during the off-season and enjoyed some steady preparations towards the campaign but they have only managed a point from their first three games.

Pressure started mounting on the head coach after their 1-1 home draw against fellow debutants Eleven Wonders on matchday two.

Karela also lost 1-0 to leaders AshantiGold on Wednesday.

Speaking after the latest defeat, Johnson Smith said:

“It’s the beginning of league and I don’t know what will happen. We only have one point after three games. We don’t know what will happen tomorrow.

“Me being under pressure or not, that’s how our work is. Always you have to think that your things are hanging on the wall and anytime your head is called off, you pack off and go.”

Coach Johnson Smith masterminded the Nzema Aiyinase-based club’s promotion to the topflight.

Karela, currently 13th in the table, host Ebusua Dwarfs on matchday 4 April 1.
