Ebenezer Ofori completes New York City loan move

MLS side New York City FC have confirmed the loan signing of Ghana midfielder Ebenezer Ofori from vfB Stuttgart.

The central midfielder has signed a one-year loan deal with an option for City to sign him permanently at the end of the 2018 season.

Ofori told the club’s website: “I’m feeling good and happy because I’ve been looking forward to starting this new chapter with a big club like NYCFC.

“For me, I just want to be part of a successful team this year, to be happy and to play in and win many games as I can with my new team.

“I can’t wait to step out in the Bronx on a gameday and to meet the fans for the first time.”

Ofori who also fits in well at left-back joined Stuttgart in January 2017.

He went on to make 11 appearances in his first half-season spell as Stuttgart emerged champions of the second Division and secured promotion to the Bundesliga.

He however fizzled out of the Stuttgart first team this season, prompting the need to seek playing time elsewhere. But during the period, Ofori has been a regular in the Ghana national team starting line-up and has so far bagged 8 appearances with a goal.

Ebenezer Ofori, 22, also previously played for AIK in Swededn where he scored 5 goals and created 15 in over 75 appearances.
