Ghalca G8: Dreams FC in the final after PKs win over Medeama

Dreams FC remain firmly in the hunt to become Ghalca G8 Tournament champions at the first ask following a 6-5 penalty shoot-out triumph over Medeama on Thursday.

The shoot-out victory means the ‘Still Believe Boys’ are into the grand finale where they will face big boys Hearts of Oak who also eliminated Asante Kotoko via the penalty lottery.

Dreams would have felt hard done by if the result had gone the other way round especially after they were denied a legitimate goal few minutes before halftime.

Television replays clearly showed that the ball landed beyond the line from striker Richard Addae’s shot which had come off the crossbar before Medeama keeper Yaw Ansah Fufuro made a grab and hooked it clear.

But referee Alex Nsiah saw otherwise and waved play on.

Both sides missed a kick each in the first set of five in the shoot-outs before good old goalkeeper Isaac Amoako, who had come on in the second half, made an excellent save to put Dreams FC into their first ever final of the Ghalca pre-season competition after a 6-5 victory.

Dreams FC will face Hearts of Oak at the Cape Coast Sports Stadium on Sunday January 21. Kickoff is at 3pm.
