U-17 WCup preps: Ghana confirm Mali, UAE friendlies

The Ghana Under-17s will play two test games against Mali and the UAE this week as they finalize preparations towards next month’s Fifa World Cup in India.

The Black Starlets moved camp from Accra to Abu Dhabi last week where they have been using the facilities at the New York University campus for their training sessions.

Coach Paa Kwasi Fabin’s team have a friendly against Mali who beat them in the Afcon finals confirmed for Wednesday at their training base, the Mohammed Bin Zayed Sports Stadium. Kickoff is at 1300 GMT.

Ghana will confirm her final 21-man squad for the World Cup the following day, September 21.

And on Sunday, September 24, the Black Starlets will leave their Abu Dhabi base to Dubai to face the Under-17 side of the United Arab Emirates in another warmup game. The match has been scheduled for 13:30 GMT.

Ghana, who have won the U-17 World Cup twice, return to the competition after a 10-year absence. They have been drawn in Group A together with Colombia, the USA and hosts India.
