Wafu Cup: Ghana will be competitive against Nigeria – Konadu

Ghana coach Maxwell Konadu has indicated intentions to maintain his winning squad when they face rivals Nigeria in the Wafu Cup Monday night.

The Black Stars have already qualified as the top-placed team in Group A after winning their first two games against Guinea and Mali.

But the age-long struggle for bragging rights whenever the two sides meet does not allow the Ghanaian coach to give respite to some of his top performing players ahead of the race for the grand finale spot.

Speaking ahead of the match at the Cape Coast Stadium, Konadu said he will approach the encounter with all seriousness.

“Now that we have qualified already, we will know how to beat Nigeria. We know that matches between these two countries are always very difficult so we are going to approach the match with all seriousness.

“I think we will use all the arsenals we have that will make sure that we will go past Nigeria even though they are a good side,” the Ghana trainer stated.

Nigeria have drawn the two games they have played in Group A and must beat Ghana to be sure of a spot in the last four of the Wafu Cup.

Kickoff for the match is at 1800GMT.
