Though the tournament is yet to come to an end, Asante Kotoko coach Steve Polack has reserved some praise for the organizers of the Wafu Cup of Nations for a good job done.
The competition, which started September 9, is in its second phase after an original 16 teams were pruned down to eight teams with a knockout round and drawn to group A and B.
The Wafu Tournament is being held in Cape Coast and Nduom Sports Complex in Elmina.
“What I have seen so far with organization is very good. Hopefully, it continue to the end of the tournament,” Polack told the media.
“I watched some of the matches in the knockout stages and I saw good football being played – because you have to go for the win. I have seen a lot of good players here, enough quality players, that is why they are representing their countries,” he added.
And Kotoko, who are represented by their head coach and other designated scouts are seeking to use this opportunity to identify potential signings.
According to Polack, he will make recommendations to the Kotoko board on the players identified and if agreed upon the club will go ahead to sign them.
“I’m on a scouting mission and in everything, I will push to the board and we will see what happens next,” he noted.
The 2017 Wafu Cup ends September 24.
