The race for the 2016/17 Ghana Premier League title heats up as Aduana Stars overtake WAFA SC as table toppers by a point difference after matchday 25.
The one-time league winners recorded victory at home while WAFA lost on the road – all by 1-0 margins.
Accra Hearts of Oak completed a Mantse derby double over city rivals Great Olympics, beating them 2-1 in both home and away battles this season.

Asante Kotoko 2-1 Bolga All Stars
The Mohammeds – Abass and Yakubu shot Asante Kotoko in front 2-0 at half-time courtesy assists from fit-again Kwame Boahen.
Back from recess, left-back Imoro Ibrahim quickly reduced the deficit with an absolute beauty from long range.
Yakubu missed the opportunity to extend Kotoko’s lead as he skied a penalty in the second half.
Berekum Chelsea 1-0 Elmina Sharks
Elmina Sharks looked to be securing a goalless draw on the road to Berekum Chelsea but were undone by a late goal as they lost 1-0 at the Golden City Park.
Kingsley Adu found himself in the wrong position as Chelsea snatched all three points.
The victory sees the Blues jump to fifth position on the log.
Aduana Stars 1-0 Inter Allies
Aduana Stars kept their chase for the title by beating Inter Allies at home. The Dormaa lads hit the opener under five minutes.
Aduana were awarded a penalty in the 4th minute after referee adjudged Shaibu Haruna to have handled the ball in his own 18-yard-box. Sam Adams stepped up and converted from the spot.
Wa All Stars 3-0 Medeama
Matthew Andoh put the champions in the lead as they welcomed Medeama at the Malik Jabir Park in Wa.
In-form David Abagna doubled the advantage late in the first half after the hosts were awarded a penalty.
Paul de Vries Asare completed the score-line with his goal in the second half.
Wa All Stars now move to within same points, 35 points as Medeama but the Mauve and Yellows place better at 8th position.
Ebusua Dwarfs 3-1 Liberty
The ‘Abontoa Abontoa’ lads went down but levelled matters quite quickly before going on to defeat Liberty Professionals at the Cape Coast Stadium.
Benjamin Eshun drew first blood but Kingsley Nteng pegged back after two minutes.
Faisal Alhaji Mustapha then scored to put Dwarfs 2-1 at the break.
Right-back Christopher Bonney placed the icing on the cake for a 3-1 victory for coach Ricardo Da Rocha’s men.
Liberty have thus been condemned to the relegation quagmire, placing 14th with 29 points.
Tema Youth 1-0 WAFA
Tema Youth left it late to beat Academy boys WAFA SC 1-0 at the Tema Stadium on Sunday.
Substitute Aaron Awannorh powerfully headed a cross whipped in by experienced winger Ekow Benson in the 76th minute to separate the two sides.
The defeat means WAFA lose their spot atop the league table following Aduana’s 1-0 victory over Inter Allies. The Dormaa side now leads the log with 47 points, one better than WAFA after 25 games.
Great Olympics 1-2 Hearts of Oak
Poor attendance, an okay performance from the two sides in the Mantse derby as Hearts of Oak went from a goal down to defeat rivals Great Olympics at the Accra Sports Stadium on Sunday.
Emmanuel Amartey scored the opening goal in the 26th minute after heading down the ball from a corner which beat goalkeeper Benjamin Mensah in post for the Phobians.
But in the 38th minute, speedy winger Patrick Razak leveled matters. He received a pass from the centre of the pitch, raced past his marker before hitting home.
Lanky Striker Kwame Kizito then put Hearts in the lead in the 11th minute of second half, a goal which ended up as the match winner.
Hearts remain third and are just three points adrift second-place WAFA SC who have 46 points.
Bechem United 1-0 AshGold
A Moro Salifu strike in the first half settled matters as Bechem United defeated survival chasers AshantiGold at the Nana Fosu Gyeabour Park.
The Hunters now occupy 9th position with 35 points while AshGold sit just above the drop zone at 13th place with five games to end the season.
